Sapphire Allard

writer and facilitator

I hold a Ph.D in research as creative practice from the University of Kent. I have many years of experience teaching in an incredibly wide variety of contexts from primary schools to drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres and currently teach creative writing via East Sussex college both on campus and in community outreach settings. I also run my own monthly workshops at my house in Eastbourne and offer 1:1 feedback and discussion sessions on a longer piece of work. I adore my work and it makes my day to see my students gain the confidence to express their creativity through the wonderful world of words!

As a writer, my practice is generally focussed on and motivated by issues of social and political justice and how these wider systems interlink with our every day lives. My poetry has been published or is forthcoming in Lucent Dreaming, Free The Verse, Ink Sweat and Tears, Sunday Mornings at The River, Isabella and Us and more. My Prose has been published or is forthcoming in Ambit, The Kent Review, The Selkie, and Heroica, and has been shortlisted for The Bridport Prize and nominated for Best of the Net.
